Responsibly sourced coffee
We work closely with farmers and communities to deliver great-tasting coffee, made with care and respect.
NESCAFÉ Blend 43 in Australia is made from 100% responsibly sourced coffee beans. This means that our coffee can be traced back to an identified farmer group and is verified or certified by independent organisations. The Rainforest Alliance seal is on our BUONDI Dark Spark, Steady State, and Complex Soul blends. We also use Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa in our Nestlé hot chocolate and MILO products made at our Australian factory. The Rainforest Alliance seal means farmers follow a rigorous standard for more sustainable agriculture and responsible business practices, and commit to improving over time. Our road to a better tomorrow
At Nestlé, our aim is to grow our business while reducing our impact on the environment. We are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using resources efficiently, and encouraging biodiversity in the areas where we operate. Of course, sustainability is a long-term commitment. That's why we have pledged to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As part of this, we are continuing to minimise our energy use, look for new ways to reduce waste, and aim to have 100% of our packaging designed for recycling or reusable packaging.

Using renewable energy
One of our key milestones on the road to 2050 is to source 100% renewable electricity across our sites by 2025 – and we’re proud that we have achieved this across our sites in Australia, including factories, DCs and offices.
This switch builds on our use of renewable energy. For example, at our NESCAFÉ Factory in Gympie Queensland, we use waste coffee grounds from the coffee production process and sawdust – sources of renewable bioenergy – to help fuel its boiler.
Industrially Compostable Paper Cups
Our new NESCAFÉ paper cups are industrially compostable, certified to Australian Standard AS 4736-2006 (certificate number ABAP 10314). To find out more about certification to Australian Standard AS 4736-2006 and the Seedling logo, visit About - ABA Australasian Bioplastics Association.
Venues who want to divert their paper cups from landfill can do so by signing up to a compost collection service, where available. The segregated cups can be sent to a facility to be composted. Reach out to one of the composting facilities in the link below to see if they accept compostable coffee cups:
